Dr. G.Viswanathan Pillai was born on 17th April 1905. He is a pioneer in the field of free medical services to the down trodden public and reduced the clutches of commercialization in that field during his time. He made the profession as service oriented. He is the founder of GVN Groups of Hospitals and Institutions.

He is a household name in this part of the country. Thousands of poor people were relieved of their pains from the day he took the stethoscope in his hand in 1939. He started his services in a thatched shed. He was the only doctor giving treatment without getting any consulting fees.

He dedication, perseverance, deep academic knowledge, his diagnostic ability professional excellence and his undaunted service mind are still remembered and followed by people in all walks of life.

He started free dispensaries in Ramakrishna Thapovanam and Kudil, Osanam St.Joseph's College, Trichy. He did free Medical Service to HolyCross Community.

Dr. G.Viswanathan engaged himself in Gandhian principles, doing yeoman service for more than five decades. He also put his illustrious sons and grand children on the path of medical service. The doctors and the staff of GVN Hospital offer great service to the society as laid down by the great soul.

SINCE 1939 GVN MEDICAL INSTITUTION CHARGES NO CONSULTATION FEES FROM ANY OF THE PATIENTS SO FAR (OPD STRENGTH OF 500 PER DAY). 30% OF INPATIENTS ARE TREATED FREE.
